Cow/Calf Operation
The cattle side of the operation consists of just over 100 head of commercial cows that calve in the fall each year. The herd spends early spring to early winter rotating between pasture and other forage we grow specifically for them. By the time calving season begins (mid october) we move the herd back to the fields closest to the main portion of our ranch so we can check them during calving season.
We maintain GAP certification as members of the Country Natural Beef Co-Op and calves are placed into their program. This means the calves we contribute are never given antibiotics or hormones and dont leave our pastures until they are nearly a year old. They spend a few months at Northwest Pasture Beef where they are put on specially formulated rations of non-GMO forage. You can enjoy beef products from this program at resteraunts such as Burgerville, OMG! Burgers, and also retailers such as PCC Markets and Whole Foods.
Boxed Beef Shares
Steers and heifers that did not get sent to Pasture Beef are available for friends and family as boxed beef. Pasture raised and ready for harvest late spring, they are processed at Follett Meats in Hermiston, Oregon. Price varies by year but requires $200 deposit to reserve a share of beef. Available in quarters, halves, and whole shares.
